Chakka Erissery -Kerala recipe,ചക്ക എരിശ്ശേരി

This is summer season and its the season of vishu also.So plenty of jackfruit is available everywhere.i have already posted different variety of jackfruit dishes.So now try out the chakka erisseri you will love it.

Ingredients needed to make chakka erisseri


1.Chakka /jackfruit - 3/4 kg
2.Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
3.Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
4.Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
5.Salt
6.Grated coconut - 1
7.Cumin seeds/jeera - 1 tsp
8.Coconut oil - 2 tsp
9.Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
10.Red chilly whole - 2
11.Grated coconut- 1/2 cup for frying
12.Curry leaves

How to make chakka erisseri

1.Remove the outer skin of the jackfruit and also remove seed from it.Then cut it in to small pieces and add 1 ltr water to it and cook it well.

2.Crush the coconut with cumin seeds,red chilly powder,turmeric powder,pepper powder and salt and little water to it.Add this grounded coconut to it the jackfruit.

3.Mix the grounded coconut with jackfruit well.

4.Heat the coconut oil in a pan and then splutter the mustard seeds add curry leaves and red chillies to it.Add the coconut needed to fry in it and fry it till it become golden brown in color.

5.Add this to the chakka erisseri this will bring more taste to the curry.
