Muringapoov Thoran -drumstick flower stir fry



As this is summer season in Kerala drumsticks are available in plenty.And we cook drumstick in many ways but i think we do not use its flowers for cooking.And i do not know whether it is available in the market or not .In my house there is a very big tree of drumstick and in this summer season it is fully flowered with yellowish white flowers.You can collect the flowers by spreading a sheet of paper under the tree.

Ingredients needed for Muringapoov Thoran


1.Muringapoov/Drumstick flowers - 2 cup
2.Kunjulli/Shallots-1/4 cup
3.Salt
4.Green chillies - 3 to 5
5.Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
6.Curry leaves
7.Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
8.Oil - 2 tsp

How to make muringapoov thoran

1.Clean the flowers well by soak it in water and then squeeze it well .

2.Heat the oil and then add the chopped green chillies and kunjulli in it.

3.Then add the turmeric powder,salt to it.Add the muringapoov and grated coconut to it .Mix all well .

4.Cover it with a lid for 2 mts now the muringapoov thoran is cooked well.
