Vada pav is a famous street chat in India which is famous in the north Indain states.And the Mumbai chat is the most delicious one among this.Pav is really like the bread pieces and inside which will be filled with a potato ball coated with spices.Wow i really enjoying making it and also eating it in these rainy days.We can call the vada pan as the Indian style burger .
Ingredients
For the potato balls
1.Boiled and mashed potato - 3
2.Ginger paste - 1 tsp
3.Green chillies paste - 3
4.Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
5.Hing/Asafotida - a pinch
6.Curry leaves/Coriander leaves
7.Salt
8.Turmeric powder - a pinch
9.Oil - 1 tsp
For the batter
1.Basen/Gram Flour - 1/2 cup
2.Rice flour - 2 tsp
3.Salt
4.Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Preparation
1.Heat the oil and splutter the mustard seeds,then add the ginger and green chilli paste to it and mix it well.Then to this add the turmeric powder,hing,curry leaves ,salt and mashed potatoes.
2.Mix it and mash it well with a wooden spoon.
3.Let it be cool a bit.Then mix the ingredients for batter with little water .
4.Make small balls out of the mashed potato mixture.
5.Then heat the oil and dip each potato balls in the batter and deep fry it.Till it becomes golden brown color.
6.For Vada Pav, split Pav keeping the base intact & spread garlic chutney or green chutney on the inner surfaces of it. Place the vada in it. Serve hot.
