How to make idly

Idly is considered as a non oily breakfast and because of this fact most of the people like it.


1. Idly rice - 4 cup
2.Urad dal - 1 cup
3.Fenugreek seed - 1 tsp
4.salt for taste


1. soak the rice and urad dal separately for atleast 5 to 6 hrs.

2.Now grind the rice separately to make it into a fine batter,then grind the urad dal with fenu greek seed also into a fine thick batter and then mix both very well.

3.Then keep it in a warm place for fermentation for10 hrs.I add the salt only at the time of making.

4.Then in the idly mould apply little oil and pour the batter and steam it for 10 to 15 mts.

Now the idly is ready to be served .....
