1.Hilsa(ilish) - 1/2 kg
2.Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
3.Green chillies - 4
4.Ginger paste - 1 tsp
5.Mustard oil - 2 tsp
6.Salt
7.Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
How to make bhapa ilish
1.Soak the mustard seeds and make fine paste out of the mustard seeds.Or you can use the kasundi or flavoured mustard paste for this.
2.Make fine paste of green chillies,ginger ,turmeric powder,and red chilli powder .Apply this on the fish and top of it apply the mustard paste.
3.Place the fish in the ring of a pressure cooker pour mustard oil on top of the fish and steam the fish for 10 mts.
Now the fish will be ready to be served .Pour the excess mustard paste on top of the fish.
