Chakli (Murukku)-Tamilnadu recipe


Chakli or Murukku is a very popular savoury snack in India.It is prepared by a mixture of urad dal flour and rice flour.The batter is then prepared in the form of spiral coils.And then fried in oil to become crisp .

Ingredients needed to make Murukku or chakli


1.Raw rice flour - 10 cups
2.Urad dhal flour - 2 cups
3.Cumin seeds(jeera)-2 tsp
4.Sesame seeds(ellu)-2 tsp
5.Butter -50 gm
6.Salt
7.Oil as needed to fry

How to make Murukku


1.In order to make urad dal flour first dry roast the urad dal and make powder out of it.

2.Mix the rice flour,urad dal flour in a bowl along with salt ,sesame seeds,and cumin seeds.Add butter to it and by using water make fine dough out of it.

3.Heat the oil in a pan and then take a small ball of dough in to the murukku maker and then squeeze the maker in a circular motion so that we get the shape of murukku.

4.Carefully drop each murukku in to the hot oil and fry it till it gets golden in color.

5.Remove it from the oil and drain out the excess oil.You can store it in airtight containers.
