Aloo Tikki -North Indian Snack


Aloo tikki is the famous northindian street chaat,very tasty and yummy.Mashed potatoes with spices and cooked in slow flame.It is served with yogurt,onions,green chillies and chutney.

Ingredients needed to make Aloo tikki

1.Potatoes - 3 no
2.Green peas - 1/2 cup
3.Green chillies - 2
4.Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
5.Onion - 1 no
6.Grated ginger - 1 tsp
7.Chopped coraiander
8.Cumin powder - 1 tsp
9.Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
10.Oil
11.Salt

How to make Aloo Tikki

1.Boil the potatoes and then peel the skin of potatoes and then mashit really well.

2.Mix all the ingredients except oil really well.

3.Apply little oil in your hands and divide the mixture into 8 to 10 equal portions.Make them into the shape of tikkies keeping them about a half inch thick.

4.Heat the oil in a flat pan on medium heat ,place the tikkis in the pan and shallow fry the tikkis ,until both sides golden brown in color


Serve it with sauce or chutney............

Basen Paare (spicy Crackers)


Basen Paare is a spicy crunchy snack .It can stored for one month in an airtight containers.

Ingredients needed to make Basen Paare

1.All purpose flour /Maida - 1 cup

2.Gram Flour/Basen - 1 cup

3.Asafoetida powder/Hing - a pinch
4.Red chilly flakes - 1/2 tsp

5.Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp

6.Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1/4 tsp

7.Carom seeds?ajwain seeds - 1/4 tsp

8.Salt

9.Oil - 4 tsp and as needed to fry

How to make Basen Paare


1.In a large bowl mix all purpose flour,gram flour,asaafoetida,red chilly flakes,red chilly powder,cumin seeds,carom seeds ,4 tsp oil and salt.


2.By adding water to it knead it really well and make smooth dough.Cover it with a damp cloth and keep it aside for 10 mts.


3.Now divide it in to 4 balls and roll it in to like the chappathi by adding little oil to it.


4.Now using a fork prick them so that the paares do not puff during frying.


5.Now cut it using a knife with half inch wide and 3 inch long pieces.


6,Heat the oil in a pan and put each pieces to it ,the dough should make the oil sizzle and come up slowly.

7.Make sure to place just enough paares so you can turn them over easily when frying.Fry the paares until both sides are light golden brown.
