When i heard first time that we can make the dal curry with mangoes i wondered what will be its taste.As i told my neighbour helped on this recipe the dish turned something wonderful to me.So here goes the recipe try it you will love this.
Ingredients
1.Tuvar dal - 1 cup
2.Raw mango sliced - 1/2 cup
3.Green chillies -3
4.Chilli powder -1 tsp
5.Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
For Seasoning
6.Oil - 2 tsp
7.Urad dal - 1 tsp
8.Fenugreek seed -1/2 tsp
9.Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
10.Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
11.Garlic - 2 cloves
12.Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
13.Salt
Preparation
1.Wash the tuvar dal really well and cook it in a pressure cooker along with mango slices,green chillies ,turmeric powder,red chilli powder,salt.You can keep it for 3 whistle or after 1 whistle keep it in simmer for another 15 mts.
2.Then mash the dal with a spoon.
3.Heat the oil in a pan and splutter the mustard ,add the fenugreek seeds,cumin seeds ,urad dal ,currry leaves to it and saute it well.Add a pinch of asafoetida to it .Then pour the cooked dal to it and mix it well.
4.Cook it in that flame for 5 mts and serve it with rice ,and pappadam.
