Methi pappu/Methi kura pappu/methi dal -Andra recipe

we keralites do not use methi leaves /fenugreek leaves in our curries.But in Andra it is available plenty and they are cooking it in different ways.Methi leaves releases great flavor when they become cooked.


1.Methi /Fenugreek leaves - 1 bunch
2.Tuvar daal - 1 cup
3.Tomato - 1
4.Onion -1
5.Green chillies - 4 to5
6.Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
7.Garlic cloves - 3
8.Red chillies - 2
9.Curry leaves
10.Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
11.Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
13.Oil - 2 tsp


1.Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan to this add the mustard seeds,cumin seeds,red chillies,curry leaves.Saute it for 1 mts then add the crushed garlic,chopped onions ,chopped green chilies to it.Saute it for another 2 mts then add the chopped tomato to it and saute it well.

2.Then add this to the washed tuvar dal along with salt ,turmeric and 1 1/2 cup of water in a pressure cooker.Add the methi leaves to it and pressure cook it for 3 whistle.

Now it is done mash it with a spoon.Serve it with rice and pappadam.It will be different try it ....
