Methi Chicken - A North Indian Recipe


As the name indicates the chicken which is cooked in methi leaves(Kasoori Methi) or Fenugreek leaves is known as Methi Chicken .

Ingredients For Methi Chicken

1.Chicken - 1 kg
2.Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
3.Chopped onions - 3 no
4.Chopped tomatoes - 3no
5.Red chilly powder - 1tsp
6.Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
7.Coriander powder-1 tsp
8.Green chillies - 4
9.Dry fenugreek leaves (Kasoori Methi) - 2 tsp
10.Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
11.Yogurt (curd) - 2 tsp
12.Salt
13.Garam masala powder - 1tsp
14.Chopped coriander leaves
15.Oil - 4tsp

How to make Methi Chicken

1.Heat the oil in a heavy bottom vessel and then add the cumin seeds to it and when it begins to pop out add the onions ,green chilly to it and saute it well.

2.When the onion turns golden in colour add ginger garlic paste to it .Then add chopped tomatoes to it and saute it again.

3.Then add red chilly powder ,turmeric powder , salt ,and coriander powder to it and mix it well.

4.Add 2 tsp curd to it and saute it really well.

5.Add kasori Methi leaves and chicken and mix it well.Cook the chicken covered till the chicken become coated with the gravy .

6.When the chicken become cooked add garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves to it .

Serve it hot with rice or roti...............
