Posto Murgi -Chicken with poppy seed paste (Bengali Recipe)

Posto Murgi means chicken in poppy seed paste.This is a typical Bengali recipe.

Ingredients For Posto Murgi

For Marination

1.Chicken - 1 kg
2.Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
3.Ginger and garlic paste - 2 tsp
4.Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

For to ground paste

1.Poppy seed - 2 tsp
2.Ginger and garlic paste - 1 tsp
3.Green chillies - 4

For to make the gravy

1.Chopped onions - 3no
2.Cinnamon- 1 stick
3.Cloves - 2
4.Cardamom - 2
5.Fennel seeds /Perumjeerakam/saunf - 1/2 tsp
6.Tomato - 1
7.Red chilli powder - 3/4 tsp
8.Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
10.Garam masala powder -1/2 tsp
12.Oil - 2 tsp

How to make posto Murgi

1.Marinate the chicken with salt ,ginger garlic paste,turmeric powder and lemon juice.And keep it for about 1 hour.

2.Make fine paste of the ingredients poppy seeds,green chillies and ginger garlic paste.

3.Heat the oil in a wok and then add cinnamon,cloves,cardamom and fennel seeds to it and saute it well.Then add the chopped onions to it and saute it again.When it becomes light brown in color add the tomatoes to it and saute it again.

4.Then add the grounded paste and red chilli powder,garam masala powderand turmeric powder to it and saute it well.

5.Then add the marinated chicken pieces to it and mix it well.Add little water and salt to it if needed.

6.Cook it till the chicken pieces become cooked well.
