Tandoori Chicken (Tandoori Murgh)

The chicken which is cooked in "Tandoor" is known as Tandoori Chicken .The chicken is marinated in yogurt and mixed with tandoor masala.Mostly Kashmiri chilly powder and turmeric powder are used for marination.

If you do not have a Tandoor at home you can also cook it in barbeque grill,in microwave.Tandoori Chicken commonly found in menus of Indian Restaurant.

Ingredients For Tandoori Chicken

1.One full Chicken - 1 kg
2.Yogurt -1cup
3.Lemon juice - 1 tsp
4.Crushed ginger - 1 tsp
5.Crushed garlic - 1 tsp
6.Kashmiri red chilli powder - 2 tsp
8.Vegetable oil - 2 tsp
9.Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp
10.Cayenne pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
11.Kasoori methi powder - 1/2 tsp
12.Red color (optional)
13.Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
14.Chat masala - 1/2 tsp
15.Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

How to Prepare Tandoori Chicken (Tandoori Murgh)

1.Using a fork Prick the chicken all over,and then cut it with a sharpe knife.Like cut it in to legs,thighs,chicken breast etc.

2.Or using a knife you can make incisions in it.

3.Take 1 tsp chilly powder,lemon juice and salt andhat marinate the chicken for 1 hour with in that .

4.In a bowl mix the red chilli powder ,curd,lemon juice,cumin powder,garam masala ,cayenne powder,kasoorimethi powder,ginger and garlic paste ,red color and salt .Now apply this masala in the marinated chicken.Last add 2 tsp oil to it and mix it well in in the chicken.

5.Keep it in refregerator for 3 to 4 hours so that it become set with the masala.

Place the chicken onto a skewer and cook in a moderately hot tandoor (clay oven) or in a preheated oven at 200°C for maximum of 12 mts.

7.Now turn the chicken add little oil and lemon it.Sprinkle chat masala on top of it and cook it for another 4 mts.

Serve it hot with ring onions .......................
