Payesh -Bengali sweet recipe(Kheer)


Bengali Payesh is almost similar to our southindian Payasam.The creamy dish with lots of nuts and elaichi flavor.

Ingredients For Payesh Bengali Sweet

1.Milk - 1 lt
2.Sugar - 1/2 cup
3.Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
4.Basmathi rice -1/2 cup(Soak the rice for 30 mts)
5.Cashew nuts - 10 to 12
6.Raisins - 10 to 12
7.Saffron Strands - a few

How to make Payesh Bengali sweet


1.In a pan bring the milk to boil,add the sugar to it and then add the rice to it .And keep the milk in simmer.Cook the milk till it becomes thick or turns in to half its volume.

2.Add raisins and cashew nuts to it and cook it for another 5 mts.

3.Now turn off the fire and add saffron strands to it.Keep it covered for another5 mts.

4.Allow the payesh to cool and serve it......
