Lavang Latika -Bengali sweet Recipe

Lavang Latika is a Bengali sweet ,flour crispies stuffed with Khoya and dry fruit mixture."Lavang" means "Cloves"and in this recipe as the name indicates lavang is the major ingredient.

Ingredients needed to make Lavang Lathika

For Covering

1.Maida(refined flour ) - 1/2 cup
2.Ghee - 1 1/2 table spoon
3.Cloves - 6
4.Refined oil to fry

For the Filling

1.Meva/Khoya - 1 1/2 table spoon
2.Chopped cashewnuts - 1 table spoon
3.Chopped almonds - 1 table spoon
4.Powdered Sugar - 1 table spoon
5.Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp

For the syrup

1.Sugar - 1/2 cup

How to make the Lavang Lathika

1.In a bowl knead the maida with little water and 1 tsp of ghee.Knead it in to a stiff dough and cover it with a damp cloth and keep it for rest .

2.Now divide the dough in to 6 equal portions and roll it out in to the shape of small puris.

3.For the filling mix the khoya,cardamom powder,cashewnuts,almondsand sugar really well.

4.Meanwhile prepare the sugar syrup by bringing the sugar and water to boiling till it becomes one string consistency.

5.Now place 1 tsp filling in ceter of puris and fold it in like the shape of envelop.Dampen their edges, place stuffing in the centre, fold in the four ends to make a square envelope, and secure with a clove.

6.Heat the oil in a kadai and then deep fry it till it becomes golden in color.

7.Now drain it out from the oil and soak it in the sugar syrup for 5 mts.

8.Take it out from the syrup and serve hot.........................
