Tauk Dal - Bengali Recipe

Tauk dal is soft yellow lentil curry cooked with mango pieces.It is also a traditiona bengali dish which will go very much with steamed rice.

Ingredients For Tauk Dal


1.Pigeon pea divided (arhar dal) - 250 gm
2.Ghee - 1 tsp
3.Raw mango - 3 no
4.Nigella seeds(Kalonji)- 1/2 tsp
5.Tumeric powder - 1/2 tsp
6.Salt
7.Green chillies - 6
8. Sugar- 2 tsp

How to make Tauk Dal

1.wash and peel the skin of mangoes,and then cut it in to pieces.

2.Cook the dal with little turmeric powder,when the dal bacome cooked well add raw mangoes,green chillies and salt to it .

3.Cook it again till the mangoes are soft enough.

4.Heat the ghee in another pan and then add the nigella seeds in it.When the popping sound comes out pour this to the dal.....

Now the delicious Tauk dal is ready to be served..............
