Mishti Doi (Mitha Dahi) -Bengali sweet Recipe


As the name indicates Mitha Dahi means Sweet Curd.It is a very popular Bengali Sweet Recipe.It is prepared by mixing milk,yogurt and sugar. Earthenware is always used as the container for making mitha dahi because the gradual evaporation of water through its porous walls not only further thickens the yoghurt, but also produces the right temperature for the growth of the culture.

Ingredients for Mishti Doi (Mitha Dahi) -Bengali sweet Recipe

1.Full cream milk - 1 ltr
2.Yogurt- 4 tsp
3.Sugar - 250 gms

How to make Mishti Doi (Mitha Dahi) -Bengali sweet Recipe


1.Boil the milk in a heavy-bottomed pan, on a medium flame till it is reduced to half its original volume. Stir frequently to prevent the milk from scorching.

2.Put the sugar in another pan and heat over a low flame to melt. Make caramalised sugar syrup from this. Remove from the fire when done, add the reduced milk to this caramalized sugar and mix well .

3.When the milk and caramalised sugar is mixed well add yogurt to it and stir it gently.

4.Pour this whole thing in a earthen pot and keep in a warm place for mishti doi to set.

5.When the Mishti Doi has set and is firm, chill for a few hours and serve.
