Nadan Kanava(koonthal,squid ) masala by lakshmi nair

This recipe belongs to Dr lakshmi nair,she is my favourite chef among the malayalees.In the magic oven programm she prepared this nadan kanava masala.And by the by this my very first recipe with kanava (koonthal or squid.)Kanava belongs to octopus family.

Ingredients needed to make Kanava Masala

1.Kanava(squid,koonthal)-3/4 kg
2.Onion-4 no
3.Tomato-3 no
4.Green chillies- 3 no
5.Red chilli powder - 1 1/4 table spoon
6.Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
7.Coriander powder - 1 1/2 table spoon
8.Salt as needed
9.Oil - 2 table spoon
10.Curry leaves
11.Pepper  Powder -1/2 tsp
12.Ginger paste - 2 table spoon
13.Garlic paste - 2 table spoon
14.Garam masala powder - 3/4 tsp
15.Sliced coconut (tenga koth)-1/2 cup
16. Mustard - 1/2 tsp
17.Red chillies - 2 no

How to prepare kanava (koonthal) masala

1.In a pressure cooker mix the kanava with onions,green  chillies,ginger and garlic paste,tomatoes,pepper powder,salt ,chilli  powder,coriander powder,turmeric powder,sliced coconut,garam masala powder.
2. Steam the whole mix until two or three whistle.
3.Now in another pan heat the oil and add the mustard seed,red chillies and curry leaves,until the popping sound comes out.
4.To this add the cooked kanava masala.
5.Stir it until it becomes slightly dried form
6.Kanava masala is ready to be served .........
